Syngnōmē

Syngnōmē

Inner consent and conscious agreement with the natural order through rational acceptance of fate.

Syngnōmē denotes in Stoic philosophy the deep inner assent to the cosmic order and to personal fate. It differs from mere resignation or submission in that it is an active, conscious act of the Logos — a rational endorsement of what is. Syngnōmē is the heart of Amor Fati and the goal of the proskinesis attitude.
