Proēgmena are a subclass of the Adiaphora introduced by Chrysippus. They denote things such as health, wealth, and reputation, which are not intrinsically good yet ought to be pursued in accordance with rational nature. They differ from mere indifferents in that they possess a natural priority, while still lacking moral value. The wise person pursues them when doing so accords with virtue, but rejects them when they would run contrary to virtue.
