Nemesis

Nemesis

The principle of natural retribution and restoration of cosmic balance, whereby every transgression inevitably leads to correction.

In Stoic philosophy, Nemesis is not a vengeful deity but a fundamental law of nature: the inescapable return to the mean after every deviation. She embodies the principle that nothing can be permanently thrown out of the balance of the Logos without nature itself performing the correction. This is closely linked to sympatheia (universal interconnectedness) — whoever acts against the whole harms themselves.
