The Meditations (Greek: Ta eis heauton; Latin: Meditations) are Marcus Aurelius's private writings, never intended for publication. They contain daily Stoic meditations, exhortations to virtue, and reflections on nature, duty, and inner order. The work is one of the most influential texts in Stoic philosophy and demonstrates the practical application of Stoic principles in the life of a Roman emperor.
