Kosmopolites

Kosmopolites

The world citizen; a person whose primary loyalty belongs not to a single city or nation, but to all of rationally ordered humanity and the cosmos.

Kosmopolites (Κοσμοπολίτης) denotes, in Stoic philosophy, the ideal of a citizen of the cosmos. Zeno of Citium introduced this term to express that all human beings are united through the shared Logos (universal reason), regardless of ethnic origin, nationality, or social status. The Kosmopolites acknowledges local and national ties, yet subordinates these to a universal sense of responsibility toward all of humanity.
