Koinōnia logikē

Koinōnia logikē

The rational community or participation in the universal reason (Logos) that unites all human beings.

Koinōnia logikē describes in Stoic philosophy the fundamental shared participation of all rational beings in the universal Logos. It is the metaphysical foundation for cosmopolitan ethics and mutual responsibility. From this community, the Stoic derives the duty of equity toward other rational beings — not from emotional inclination, but from recognition of this deepest reality.
