Eugeneia (from Greek 'eu' = good/noble and 'genos' = origin/lineage) originally denotes aristocratic birth. The Stoics transformed this concept radically: they retained the word but shifted its meaning entirely onto moral character formation. True greatness lies not in lineage, but exclusively in one's personal disposition (prohairesis) and the willingness to act in accordance with the universal Logos. External factors such as birth or social status are adiaphora (indifferent) and therefore morally irrelevant.
