The Epistulae Morales are not a systematic treatise but a series of personal letters in which Seneca discusses philosophical exercises and Stoic principles in the context of everyday challenges. They serve the practice of melete (meditative anticipation) and the daily digestion of truths, as in Letter XVI on praemeditatio malorum. These letters are among the most important testimonies of late Stoic practice and its application.
