Energeia

Energeia

The active, inner force or efficacy of the mind in transforming external adversity into moral material.

In this context, energeia denotes not mere passive acceptance, but the active inner activity of the hegemonikon, which assigns new meaning to an external event through deliberate act of judgement. It is the operative energy of reason that shapes material from resistance — not by negating the difficulty, but by rationally reappraising it in the service of cultivating virtue.
